Soram Terms of Service
These Terms govern the Soram service provided by 주홍범 (the “Operator”). On the sign-up screen, a new member must agree to these Terms and confirm age before registering with Google or Kakao. Signing in to an existing account does not itself constitute new agreement to the Terms. This translation is provided for convenience; if it differs from the Korean version, the Korean version prevails to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Beta operation notice — this document applies to the current beta service. Unverified public information is identified in the body, and affected optional features are not offered until verification is complete.
1. Purpose and scope
These Terms define the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the Operator and members using the Soram web service.
Features that require a separate choice or notice, including Personal Voice, are also governed by the additional notice shown for that feature.
2. Formation of the agreement and eligibility
An agreement is formed when a new member agrees to these Terms and confirms the minimum age on the sign-up screen, completes Google or Kakao authentication, and a new account is created and enabled.
At sign-up, the service stores the agreed Terms version, the Privacy Policy and AI notice versions that were presented and acknowledged, the confirmed minimum age, and the confirmation time in the same transaction as account creation. Existing-account sign-in is separate: a member with an acceptance record for the current version signs in directly. If that record is missing or the Terms version changes, the member receives a full session only after completing one-time consent to the current version.
During registration, each member confirms that they are at least 14. Google or Kakao authentication cannot start without that confirmation, and users under 14 cannot register.
If you register for another person or organization, you must have lawful authority to bind them.
3. OAuth accounts and account security
Soram uses Google or Kakao OAuth. The sign-up flow creates a new account, while sign-in accepts only an already-connected provider account. Soram does not receive your social-account password, and accounts from different providers are not linked automatically merely because their email addresses match.
You must be authorized to use the connected account. Promptly notify the Operator and the OAuth provider if you suspect unauthorized use or a security incident.
4. The service and limits of AI interpretation
Soram may provide text and voice interpretation, translation, seminar captions, and related editing tools. Availability depends on your environment, upstream providers, and operating policy.
AI output may contain mistranslations, omissions, delays, speaker confusion, or inappropriate wording. Do not rely on it alone for medical, legal, safety, financial, or emergency decisions; verify important content with a qualified professional or official interpreter.
5. Personal Voice and your rights
Personal Voice is not enabled by accepting these general Terms. Separate processing and overseas-transfer consent are required. The UI and server verify the current versions and that the displayed notice matches. Each enrollment record is protected from later alteration and includes both versions and server acceptance times, the displayed items, purposes, individual retention periods, and refusal effects for Soram’s three data categories, plus the recipient, contact, countries, transfer retention, consent text, transferred items, transfer purpose, timing and method, and transfer-refusal effect.
You may enroll only your own voice or a voice for which you have all necessary rights and consents. Impersonation, deception, harassment, unauthorized cloning, and unlawful content are prohibited.
Timed deletion and upstream voice-model retention, training use, and confirmed-erasure standards are being verified and completed. Personal Voice is not offered until that work is complete.
6. Prohibited conduct
- Violating law, another person’s rights, or public order
- Impersonation, account or invite-code sharing, access-control bypass, or abuse of the service
- Malware, excessive automated requests, reverse engineering, or interference with service stability
- Submitting voice, personal data, or confidential material without authority, or unlawfully recording or transmitting a conversation
- Deceptively presenting AI output as a verified human conclusion
7. Changes, suspension, and availability
The Operator may change or temporarily suspend features for security, maintenance, legal compliance, upstream outages, or operational needs. Foreseeable material changes will be announced in advance by reasonable means.
Advance notice may be impracticable for urgent security incidents, network failures, or force majeure. The Operator will provide recovery and follow-up information where reasonably possible.
8. Account withdrawal and data
You may request account withdrawal and deletion through the in-service process or privacy contact (heterotopia@disroot.org). If deletion of a linked upstream Personal Voice fails, account deletion stops so it can be retried. Backup erasure and response timelines are being verified and completed during beta operation.
After the upstream deletion request succeeds, Soram removes the provider voice ID and deletes the account together with linked local voice profiles, enrollments, and tone metadata. Using only the dedicated Personal Voice deletion flow disables the local profile, but enrollment and tone metadata may remain until account withdrawal; the provider’s backup and final-erasure timing still require confirmation.
After withdrawal, the minimum information required by law, dispute handling, or abuse prevention may be retained only for the relevant purpose and period. See the Privacy Policy for details.
9. Responsibility and liability
Each party is responsible under applicable law for harm caused by its fault.
The Operator does not promise perfect AI accuracy or uninterrupted availability. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for intentional or grossly negligent conduct, non-waivable consumer rights, or any liability that applicable law does not permit the Operator to limit.
10. Governing law, disputes, and revisions
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. The parties will first try to resolve disputes in good faith; unresolved disputes will be heard by a court with jurisdiction under applicable procedural law.
If the Operator revises these Terms, it will announce the effective date and reasons within a reasonable advance period. Material adverse changes and matters requiring separate consent will follow applicable notice and consent requirements.
